CHARITY PARTNERS

HOW WE GIVE BACK

Virtuous Pie is committed to connecting with our community and supporting causes that align with our vision and values. Our charity program focuses on animal welfare, animal rights, and animal habitat protection in the three regions we operate in – Canada West, Canada East, and the USA.

Each quarter, we select a charity partner in each region to donate a portion of proceeds toward. For February and March 2020, we are focusing on women-led charities and non-profit organizations.

VANCOUVER + VICTORIA: VANCOUVER VEGAN RESOURCE CENTRE:

The Vancouver Vegan Resource Centre (VVRC) is an inclusive community where people can learn about various components of veganism. Run by local vegan activist Zoe Peled, the VVRC welcomes those at all stages of the vegan journey, offering information pertaining to food and cooking, the animal industries, activism and getting involved, health and wellness, and more.

Peled, who has a background in marketing and PR, is committed to raising awareness of vegan living and to getting more people thinking about their food choices—in a supportive, nonjudgmental way. To this end, the VVRC partners with local non-profits, charities, and causes – simultaneously supporting multiple initiatives.

As our charity partner, the VVRC will be spreading its donation among three partners:

Home for Hooves: a farm sanctuary that provides vegan forever homes for rescued and abandoned animals on Vancouver Island.

The Billy Fund (PEACE): a program facilitated by PEACE that supports rescued animals with unique medical needs and disabilities; funding may support mobility devices, medical bills, and therapeutic procedures.

Vancouver March to Close All Slaughterhousesa peaceful, family- friendly, community based event, to promote, support, and further the animal liberation movement.

HOW YOU CAN HELP:

All of these initiatives can be supported in a variety of ways:

1) Financial donations
2) In-kind donations and/or sponsorship (supplies, event support)
3) Volunteering
4) Sharing information on social media and helping to spread the word about what they are doing

PORTLAND: OREGON DOG RESCUE

Oregon Dog Rescue is a no-kill shelter serving the greater Portland, Oregon area. Run by an all women staff, the non-profit organization was started in 2007 by two women with a combined twelve years of experience with rescue dogs. Oregon Dog Rescue is devoted to placing dogs in the best homes and assuring the long-term success of the adoption.

HOW YOU CAN HELP:

The public can best support their mission by adopting, donating, and volunteering.

Donations

We will prioritize our existing Charity Partners for fundraising activity requests, however we do accept requests from those supporting causes that align with our vision and values:

• Animal Rights

• Environmental Causes

• Social Causes

• Community Events

Please note, every month we receive hundreds of donation requests so we ask you to allow us some time to review and respond.  We also appreciate your understanding that although we would like to support everyone, at this time we cannot always do so and wish you the best in your efforts.
